Over at Buttonhole Fishery there was a good turnout for the open match which saw most struggling in the strong wind, making it difficult to present a pole rig for some anglers, writes Ken Wade.
Match winner Joe Bourn on peg 20 made the right decision to fish a small feeder on the tip with pellet as hook bait; then switched to sweetcorn giving him a very respectable 96lb 13oz to take the match.
Runner-up on the day was first time visitor to the venue Roger Phillips on peg 7.
He fished tight to the island on the pole and on punched cheese for 74lb 2oz, followed by Steve Freeman with 47lb.
There is another open match this Saturday at Buttonhole.

Rookery Waters has had a busy week with two well attended matches to report on.
In the Wednesday Over 60’s open fished on the Raven Lake local rod Will Hadley took the honours.
He fished maggot on the hook over maggot, feeding a couple of maggots every put in, to the far shelf in 3ft of water, to finish with 62lb 8oz from peg 12.
Second place went to John Millard with 29lb, followed by Chris Saunders on end peg 29 on 27lb oz.
In the Saturday Winter Qualifier fished on Jay and Raven Lakes, Jay Lake winner was Adam Playford.
He continued his good run of form on the venue with 115lb 10oz from peg 11, catching on bread for most of the match.
Second place went to Kev Shellie on peg 38 with a weight of 109lb 2oz and third place went to Mark Pollard weighing 54lb 4oz.
Raven yet again produced a very close result, Josh Pace winning with 95lb 14oz of carp and f1’s from Peg 11 fishing maggot on the pole.
Second on the lake was Roger Gowler on peg 22, who put 58lb 6oz on the scales.
Meanwhile in third place with 56lb 6oz was Tony McGregor.
