Barry Stacey takes Tydd Gote Angling Club honours on Middle Level at Peter’s Bridge

Tydd Gote Angling Club took a trip to the Middle Level at Peter’s Bridge for this Sunday’s club match – and what a good turn-out there was.

Unfortunately strong winds and weed hampered presentation, but there were still some reasonable weights.

Barry Stacey took the honours with a feeder-caught net of skimmers and small fish for 9lb 3oz to his worm and maggot hookbaits, fished three-quarters across.

Barry had to wait almost an hour for his first indications, when a couple of line bites signalled the skimmers had turned up, and from then on he caught steadily to the end.

Ian Benton fished similar tactics for a skimmer-based net of 7lb 10oz for second place, with Andrew Kilby’s bag of small silvers for 6lb 5oz enough for third, just pipping the very consistent Archie Greenwood, who was fourth with 6lb 3oz.
