Good turnout for annual Rover event at Eastrea Decoy venue

There was a good turnout for the annual Fenland Rods “Rover” event held on the Damson Lake at Decoy on Saturday.
Competitors drew a number out of the bag. If you draw number one you get first pick of the pegs – so an early number at the draw is always favourable.
Match winner John Smith decided on peg 18 and, fishing very close in on mainly paste, he had a very good first half. Later in the day the fish departed and only returned in the last 30 minutes. Nevertheless, he put a winning weight of 123lb 11oz to the scales.
In second place was Mick Rawson who had his first Decoy 100lb-plus weight; he actually weighed in 105lb 10oz.
He was followed by Kev Lee on 104lb 13oz and Dave Garner with 97lb 1oz.
