Another great point for Saints

More news, no ads

Wisbech St Mary's recovery continued last night when they gained another point in a goalless draw at Lakenheath.

After losing their first 12 games of the Thurlow Nunn League first division north season, the Saints followed up on Saturday's 2-2 draw at Needham Market with this excellent point at the third place team.

In fact, on the club's official Twitter account, Lakenheath admitted St Mary should have taken all three points.

Lakenheath beat Saints 7-0 in the league cup in manager Alex Kaufman's first game in charge on October 2, but six games later and the improvement is there for all to see.

Kaufman said: "We've been building up to a good result – it's been coming. If you look at our results you wouldn't think so, but we've been great in the first half of the games I've been here and then run out of steam after the break.

"We were excellent all over at Lakenheath, with great work rate and organisation and we had three of four chances to take all three points. I'm really pleased.

"The spirit in the changing room is fantastic and we will now be looking to get our first win when we entertain Great Yarmouth on Saturday."

Saints: Smith, Short, Kennelly (Woodhouse), Beckett, Hutton, Miller, Tansley, Goult, Richardson, Kingston, Hempson (Wilmot).
