Defeats for Leverington and March Ladies

Leverington Ladies lost 5-2 to Netherton as they hosted their first post lockdown S-Tech premier division game.

After going 1-0 down, top scorer Sophie Swinden levelled the scores for Leverington when she fired a great dipping shot over the keeper from 25 yards. The game then went end to end but the visitors went 2-1 ahead before the break.

Netherton increased their lead to 4-1 before Swinden was upended in the box and picked herself up to slam home the resulting penalty.

But with Leverington now throwing players forwards they were picked off at the other end for the fifth goal.

Next week the ladies will be looking to bounce back when they travel to play Fulbourne.

With many players unavailable for the double header S-Tech premier clashes at Fulbourn, March Ladies put up a couple of decent performances but lost both games 4-0.

But that didn’t reflect the performances of many of the team playing out of normal positions.

In the first game, the Hares went close with efforts from Kelsey Ramm, Ella Nutter and Jess Krauss and Tori Sharpe tipped a corner over the bar.

In the second game, the Hares had a great first half with Krauss having a shot cleared off the line. Sharpe also tipped a shot around the post.
