Tommy Parrin suffers bad luck despite good performance in 2L Stock Car English Championship at King’s Lynn
Tommy Parrin gave a great account of himself in what was a bruising 2L Stock Car English Championship at King’s Lynn last Saturday.
Bad luck cost him what could have been some better finishes, but he will be very pleased with the pace he showed.
Things did not start well for Parrin in his first qualifying heat when he seemed to be involved in every negative incident, and his car was not going very well.
But following some changes to the car, he put in one of his best drives at King’s Lynn for a while and battled through the grid from 16th place to come home in third place – putting him on the outside of row four for the big race.
When the green flag dropped, Parrin had an electric start – and by lap three he was up to third. He was having a great race and more then holding his own among some top names when he was spun out on lap seven, but a quick recovery saw him back in the race in tenth place.
Parrin started to climb up the leaderboard again and was up to eighth place three laps later when he was spun out again.
This put him down in 18th spot, but he again started making up lost ground – and he ended up getting a few more places back - but will be thinking what could have been had he not suffered from bad luck.
Jacob Downey also had another hectic night in the 2L Stock Cars, and was involved in plenty of big incidents. A seventh-place finish in his heat put him in the championship final.
He made some good progress in the big race and had forced his way up to eighth place, when he had to retire with six laps to go.
Daz Kitson was also outside the results all night in the F1 Stock Cars, and Brooke Kitson also had a rough night in the MiniStox where her best result was an 11th place finish in the opening heat.
Racing is set to return next Monday with another family fun special featuring Big Van Bangers, Micro Bangers, F2 Stock Cars and Junior Bangers.
Brad Bartram will once again be one of the busiest drivers in the pits as he is in action in both the Big Van Bangers and the Micro Bangers.
Joining him in the Big Van Bangers will be Nicky Young and brothers Jack and James Licquorice.
Alfie Allard is booked in the F2 Stock Cars, while Archie Horwood and Jade Ellis will be racing the Junior Bangers.
