Banger race in memory of Wisbech driver Bailey
After a three-week break, Stock Car and Banger Racing returns to the Adrian Flux Arena, King’s Lynn, on Saturday night (5.30pm).
Headlining the event is the Bandit Memorial for both Unlimited and Two-Litre Bangers, held in memory of Wisbech driver Michael ‘Bandit’ Bailey.
Also in action are BriSCA Formula Two Stock Cars in a World of Shale championship qualifying round.
Wisbech drivers in action include Nicky Young, who won the Unlimited Banger White & Yellow Grade Series Final last time out. He will be joined in the Unlimited Bangers by his brother Nathan, young gun Ryan Leeks and Dan Fisher.
Leeks and Fisher will be doing double duty by racing in the Two-Litre Bangers, too. Also racing in that category will be Wisbech’s Luke Brinton, one of a number of drivers racing in Bailey’s Predators team colours. This is the Two-Litres’ final world championship qualifying round so represents the last chance to make the grid of the World Final, which this year takes place at the track on August 20.
Manea’s Dave Polley heads the BriSCA Formula Two entry. As well as chasing World of Shale points, Polley will be aiming to perfect his car’s set-up ahead of the all-important World Championship semi-finals which take place at the formula’s next outing at Lynn, on August 13.
March-based Daniel Pooley and Wisbech trio Richard Hampshire, Ollie Skeels and Bradley Blyth will also be in action.
Since graduating to the formula this year, Blyth has proved to be well on the pace but has so far lacked that vital ingredient of luck. He will be aiming for that to change this weekend.
The high-quality field also includes defending World of Shale champion Mark Simpson (Skegness) and Yorkshire star Billy Webster, as well as three Dutch competitors.
