Wisbech dominated play in the first half but failed to convert any of the chances created.

The second half was more evenly balanced and Wisbech couldn’t find any cutting edge. The defence held firm, and there were some solid performances.

A point meant Wisbech remained two points behind Peterborough in the league table.

It was always going to be a competitive game following the previous fixture which resulted in a 0-0 draw.

An early goal for Shelley Coleman from a short corner saw the ball find the top corner. A harsh penalty flick was awarded to Bourne Deeping but goalkeeper Ruby Sheppard calmly kept it out.

The second half saw Wisbech attack as a team with some fantastic runs from the back by Player of the Match Harriet Bateman. Rachel Bingham doubled the score, her first for the club. Next week Wisbech are away to Alford & District 2nds 2pm.

Wisbech transferred this Sunday home game to Neale-Wade in March to finally get this fixture underway at the third time of asking.

In a physical contest Wisbech felt they more than held their own.

They were a goal down at half-time. Unfortunately Wisbech conceded a second from a short corner strike and couldn’t find the magic touch in front of goal. A number of players put in really good performances, including Sharon Simons and Sue Robinson.

PoM: Alice Salmon & Steph Hanlon.

Wisbech 4ths produced probably their best team performance this season.

Ciaran Lowe sneaked his second goal of the season from an Elliot Peck cross. Wisbech’s second goal was scrambled over the line with only a few minutes left and with the score at 3-2 Wisbech pushed forward and won a short corner but couldn’t convert. Cambs then killed the game.

MoM: Jamie Gollands.

Next week Wisbech are away to Cambs City Men’s 6ths, 11:00pb.
