Recent signing Rogers scored the visitors' first goals of the campaign after 57 and 61 minutes.

Newcastle Town went 2-0 up at half-time but boss Seb Hayes said should have taken all three points.

Hayes said: "We deserved more, to be fair, on passage of play and possession.

"We created a lot more chances than them. We're starting to move forward.

"Things are improving and we can start picking up more points.

"Declan has come into a squad that isn't settled and not at our strongest.

"Declan scored 15 goals at Step 3 last year so I know he'll guarantee us 20 goals-plus this season.

"We could have had four or five goals. He got into areas that really hurt them. Their goalkeeper made a really good save from him."
