Brad Bartram among Fenland drivers to star at stock car racing in King’s Lynn

There was plenty of success for Fenland drivers at King’s Lynn on Saturday night, with strong results in all formulas.

Brad Bartram had a busy night as he raced both National Banger formulas in action – the 1500cc Bangers and Micro Bangers.

He sealed a top ten finish in every 1500cc Banger Race, and also picked up an entertainer award in the Destruction Derby – and was in the middle of the action throughout in the Micro Bangers, where he also picked up an entertainer award.

Joel Allen picked up a tenth place finish in the 1500 Bangers, while Aston Gibbons was very much on a charge and ended up spectacularly rolling his car in one of his races. This was the first time he has ever rolled over while racing.

James Licquorice and Jack Maryon both put on a good display in the Micro Bangers. Licquorice picked up an entertainer award in one of his heats and came home in sixth place in the final.

Maryon finished just in front of him in the feature race in fifth place, before going on to win the Destruction Derby with a fantastic performance.

A great night of 1300 Stock Cars saw action aplenty, with just under 60 cars racing. Jack Smith won the Steve Newman Memorial, with none of Fenland’s drivers finishing in the places – but we did have a number of drivers qualify for the big race.

Lee Green qualified with his best result since returning this season with a runner-up finish in his heat.

Tom Alsop also made it through in the same race with a fourth place finish, while second and third place finishes by John and Dean Moat respectively in the consolation booked their places in the main race.

John Moat unfortunately took a big hit in the Steve Newman Memorial which saw the race stopped to help him exit his car.

Dean Moat was the best finisher in the All Comers race, finishing in tenth place.

There was a Wisbech lockout in the Junior Bangers, with all of the races being won by a local driver – and each one by a different driver.

Lee Horwood opened things with a good drive in the opening heat on a very tricky track following heavy rain.

Rhys Parrin then took the chequered flag in the second heat, with Riley Crowson winning the third and Zane Douglas then just beating Parrin to the win in the final.
