Chatteris pair swim in national event
Chatteris Kingfishers’ Hallie White and Thomas Hanley (both 11) competed for Peterborough SC in the National Arena League, with Hallie winning her 50m front crawl race and Thomas finishing his in third place, as well as both swimming in a relay.
The squad swam in the Wisbech SC’s Patterns Transport Gala, amassing 32 personal bests.
Layla White, Thomas Ashton, Adam Ballantine, Rosie Harritt, Jake Bullock, Olivia Clark and Rosie Tuffin swam races for the first time; whilst Hayden Wareing, Abbie and Elliott Stocker, Melissa Ablett, Oliver Ayres, Harry Rayner, Naomi Lambert di Marco, Kiera Simpson and Liam Hill all swam one or more personal best times in the 50m races.
The regional squad faced tough competition in the Cambridge Open Meet, and came away with 33 personal bests and 18 top six placings. Hallie White (11) finished second in her 200m butterfly (PB), 4th in 50m backstroke, 200m I.M. and 100m fly (2 PB’s), 5th in 100m front crawl and 50m fly (both PB’s) and 6th in 50m f/c and 100m back, whilst Megan Dawson (12) swam PB times in all six of her races.
Other results: Chloe Cook (10) 4th 200m breast and fly, 5 PB times; Freddie Allen (9) 1st 50m fly (PB) and 4th 50m back; Thomas Hanley (11) 5 PB’s in 7 races, 4th in 50m breast and 200m back, 5th 50 and 100m back; Anastassja Herdien (10) 6th in 50 and 200m back; Jake Hoy (13) 6th 200m breast; Kiara Kovacs (11) PB’s in 50, 100 and 200m f/c; Finley Harper (13) in 100 and 200m f/c and 200m I.M.; Maisie Harper PB in 200m f/c; Kathleen Loveridge PB Open 50m backstroke. Also swimming: Open swimmers Mark Thompson and Liam Oliver.
The Richard Shaw Memorial gala hosted by March Marlins saw Chatteris fourth on 151. There were nine first places, 5 seconds and 8 thirds, as well as 18 PB times.
First places with PBs were won by: Kiara Kovacs (13/u 50m front crawl), Connie Denman (15/U 50m breast), Matthew Charter (50m f/c) and Jake Hoy (13/U 50m fly). Mark Thompson (50m fly) and Finley Harper (13/U 50m back) won but beat the cut-off time.
Further first places: Erika Denman (15/U 50m back), Liam Oliver (Open 50m breast), Megan Dawson (15/U 50m f/c) and the mixed junior and mixed senior front crawl relay team.
Second: Ben Noble 9 yrs 25m fly and 50m breast (both PB), Finley Harper in 15/U 50m back (PB), 15/U 50m breast which Thomas Ashton swam in 9 yrs 50m back.
Third: Maisie Harper in 13/U 50m fly (PB), Megan Denman (11/U 50m f/c), Molly Noble (11/u 50m fly), Matthew Charter (Open 50m back, PB), Kiera Simpson (11/u 50m back, PB), Kathleen Loveridge (Open 50m fly), Marie Doherty (Open 50m f/c), mixed butterfly relay team (10 swimmers).
Next weekend Kingfishers will host the Junior Fenland League B final in Whittlesey.
