Chatteris Town FC celebrated netting nearly £100,000 in grant money which has enabled the Lilies to refurbish their clubhouse.

Chatteris received an Inspired Facilities Award from Sport England (£75,000) and this was followed by a Mick George Community Fund Award (£18,842).

This funding allowed refurbishment of changing-rooms, clubhouse, kitchen, toilets and storage areas. In addition, the exterior of the building was refurbished, the car-park re-surfaced and the clubroom newly furnished.

Friday celebrated these improvements and thanked all who helped the project, called Project 2020 Vision Chatteris Town Football Club: West Street Improvements.

Those invited include local MP Steve Barclay, representatives from Living Sport, Sport England, Mick George Ltd and many other people who helped the football club.

On the field, Chatteris Town face life back in Kershaw Senior A of the Cambs County League, after two years at Step 7. The Lilies’ fixtures for season 2018/19 have not been released yet but they should begin in the middle of August under their new manager Alex Kaufman.

The visitors produced a second-half comeback to take the spoils at West Street in this pre-season friendly on Saturday.

Jordan Finneran and a trialist scored the Town goals. The Lilies host Beccles Town, 2pm, next Saturday.

The ‘A’ team drew 3-3 with The Isle, a Finneran double and Jacob Butler, in a solid start to their pre-season campaign.
