Chatteris Cricket Club, Wisbech Town CC, March Town CC and Wimblington sides in action on weekend of May 21-22 2022




Chatteris Cricket Club's 1st XI triumphed over basement side Abington by 102 runs in CCA Senior League Division 1 in the Fenland Citizen game of the day.

Chatteris posted 256-7 in their maximum 45 overs at Fullers Cricket Ground.

They dismissed Abington for 154 from 44.4 overs to reach fourth position in the table after capturing 20 points.

Meanwhile, Cambs & Hunts Premier League leaders Wisbech Town Cricket Club's 1st XI grabbed another maximum 30-point success after they demolished Ramsey by nine wickets.

The hosts crumbled to 109 all out in the 33rd over after being 50-1.

Josh Porter bagged 3-12, Kieran Haynes 1-19, R Clark 5-34 from ten overs and Gary Freear 1-22.

Anthony Bamford top-scored with 89, Peter Munns 39, Ben Hollis 37, captain Max Kelly 10, James Fraser 26 and wicket keeper Connor Morton 32.

Abington's 154 came via Anton Kaval 1-21, Billy Munns 1-25, Peter Munns 3-16, Bamford 1-41, Fraser 3-23 and Kelly 1-17.

Elsewhere, Chatteris 2nds lost at St Ives Town & Warboys 2nds by 22 runs in CCA Junior League 2 North.

St Ives Town & Warboys posted 213 all out in 38.4 overs. Luke Matthews recorded 1-25, Oliver Tilbrook 1-37, Gugan Kupendran 4-48, Archie Wathen 3-44 and skipper Harry Matthews 1-47.

Chatteris 2nds were 191 all out in 40 overs. Ben Perry scored 26, Charlie Munns 10, Adam Whiting 51, Daniel Berrill 30 and Harry Matthews 27.

Wisbech raced to 110-1 in just 18.1 overs. Danny Haynes was trapped lbw for a 'duck', but with county players Freear 66 not out off 55 balls (six boundaries and four sixes) and wicket keeper Josh Bowers 37 no off 48 balls (five fours) they managed to rattle off the runs.

Wisbech have played a game more than their rivals, but enjoy a 33-point lead over Histon in Whiting & Partners Division 1.

Eighth-spot Wisbech 2nds lost at Huntingdon & District by 154 runs in Division 3.

Huntingdon set 254-7 from their 45 overs. Brodie Ellis took 1-53, Rhys Howell 1-57, Manuj Patel 2-44, Joe Dunning 2-22 and Ryan Jackson 1-19.

Wisbech were bundled out for 100 in 24.4 overs. Number three Rhys Howell struck 31, with late order efforts from Dunning 11 and Jackson 25 off 24 balls.

Basement side Wisbech 3rds crashed at City of Ely 2nds by 10 wickets in CCA Junior League 2 North.

Wisbech slid to 80 all out from 27.2 overs. City of Ely cruised to 82 for no loss in 16.1 overs.

City of Ely 3rds conceded against Wisbech 4ths, who gain 20 points.

March Town are eighth in Whitings Division 1 after losing at Newmarket by 58 runs with 11 overs unused at the Severals Sports Pavilion.

Newmarket posted 255-6 in 50 overs, with Maxford Pipe scoring 107no.

Callum Young took 2-60, Samuel Clarke 2-56 and David Haslegrave 1-0, with special mention going to Aron Visser's tidy 0-20 off ten overs.

March replied with 197 all out in 38.5 overs. Opener Haslegrave was bowled for a duck, then Udana Ranathunga notched 16, Visser 10, Brandon Phillips 13, Ruwan Pitigala 34 and Sandeep Peramulla 11.

March plunged to 109-7, before Samuel Clarke's 38 off 39 balls with four sixes and Ross Clarke's 44 off 32 balls, also with four sixes, added 82 for the eighth wicket to give them respectability.

March 2nds lost to visitors Needingworth by nine wickets in CCA Senior League Division 1.

March, in eighth, set a healthy 238-4 from 45 overs. Shae Pooley struck 59, fellow opener and skipper Tommy Howgego 33, Nigel Wright 34, Benjamin Pyle 56 off 43 balls with six boundaries and a six, and Jacob Gray an undefeated 31.

The latter pair put on 81 for the fourth wicket.

However, Needingworth smashed 241-1 in a mere 31.5 overs with unbeaten tons from George Smith and Lee Smith.

This was after Mark Deas (1-28) had bowled opener Reuan Williams for a duck.

March Town 3rds conceded against hosts Needingworth 2nds.

Wimblington beat away side St Ives Town & Warboys 3rds by nine wickets to go third in CCA Junior League 4 North.

St Ives Town & Warboys closed on 130 in 40 overs.

Leon Walker took 1-17, Francesca Plitsch 1-26, Paul King 2-19 and Poppy Cole 2-10,

Wimblington were in cruise control on 132-2 in 20 overs.
