March Golf Club spring season 2023 off to great start
March Golf Club has hit the spring season running, with the recent sunny weather highlighting the course's beauty.
At the start of the season, the women’s section held a coffee morning to raise awareness of the club captains’ charity Sands, a stillbirth and neonatal death support organisation.
Clea Harmer, the charity CEO, attended to talk about the work that is being undertaken, supporting families who are bereaved through pregnancy and child loss, training health care professionals to support bereaved families and supporting research to reduce the number of babies dying at or soon after birth.
Six members from the women’s section are undertaking a 100km walk through May to raise money for the charity.
On Saturday, April 1, the competitive season got under way with the Selby Taylor Cup was held - with 74 members turning out to play.
The overall winner was Andrew Brooks with an impressive 44 stableford points.
Emma Athow was the highest scoring woman with 37 points.
Lewis Hearn was the second highest scorer in the men’s section and Gail Johnson second in the women’s section.
A presentation evening was hosted by the Selby Taylor family, with Min Kelsey presenting the prizes.
During the spring/summer the club will be running some ‘get into golf sessions’. Dates will be on the club website, and those interested can contact secretary@marchgolfclub.co.uk to register an interest.
