Wisbech Rugby Club names 2020/21 captains
Wisbech Rugby Club has named its senior captains for the 2020/21 season.
Dave Wadsley is the club and first team captain, Olly Mackett will captain the Wildcats and Greg Brownlow will lead the vets.
Wadsley is a club stalwart who will be approaching 40 this season. He started his rugby at Wisbech when11 and this is his third stint as 1st XV captain. He has always been a crowd favourite at Harecroft Road for his hard-hitting and intimidating presence.
He led the 2012-13 team which came close to promotion out of London North-East Division 3 and his calm leadership has allowed a new crop of young talent to develop at Wisbech.
Mackett has played for Wisbech RUFC since the age of six, being involved at all levels, including captain of the 1st XV and coaching juniors and seniors.
He has played numerous positions for the club, finding his home in the front row as his experience grew. He is a true lover of the social side of the game.
Brownlow has played rugby for Wisbech since he was a mini, continuing a family connection that includes his father, uncle, brother and cousin.
Throughout his time he has been involved in all of the highs and lows, including the heart breaking narrow loss in the divisional semi-final of the RFU Senior Vase and appearances for the 1st XV in the County Cup finals.
Pre-season training has begun every Tuesday and Thursday at 7pm, using the latest RFU Return to Rugby guidelines. All new players are welcome and the club is aiming to arrange a number of Vets fixtures over the course of the 2020-21 season. Get in touch for more information via the club website or Facebook page .
