After driving to first and second-place podiums, he travelled home with a 16-point championship lead after the opening round at Silverstone.

"After an intense pre-season training really hard to be ready for this year, it has finally paid off with a first place and second place in both races.

"I want to to thank everyone that has supported me, and my mum and dad who have put their faith in me from the start of all of this."

Cook pipped Mikey Hardie by 0.037 seconds, pulling off a stunning move as he just about slip-streamed his opponent across the line. He took time to thank everyone who has helped him so far and hopes his success continues.
