Creasey seething after seeing Wisbech crash
Wisbech Town FC manager Dick Creasey pulled no punches after seeing his side crash 3-1 at Northampton Sileby Rangers on Saturday.
Billy Smith gave the Fenmen an early lead before the hosts fought back to beat an out-of-sorts Wisbech outfit with ease in the second period.
The manner of Wisbech’s defeat left Creasey seething.
Creasey, whose side next host Holbeach United on April 19, said: “As a manager I take responsibility for what performances we put in, but the second half on Saturday was nowhere near where I want it to be.
“I can’t believe how poorly some of the players are performing. There was a lack of heart, a lack of passion and a lack of talking.
“We could go on all night about what we are not doing right.
“What’s more disappointing for me is players who I managed last season, seeing where they were then to where they are now.
“I don’t know what’s gone wrong, I’m lost for words at our second-half display.”
The local derby against the Tigers will provide tenth-spot Wisbech with the ideal opportunity of bouncing straight back, but Creasey isn’t sure if the 10-day break will do his players good.
“I wish we’d got a game tomorrow if I’m being honest,” admitted Creasey.
“I’m not sure if having a 10-day break is a good thing because Saturday’s defeat is going to fester away at me.
“I only hope it festers away with the players, too. If I’d put in a performance like that as a player, I’d be desperate for the next game to put it right.
“Whether they’ve got that in the locker I can’t say, as I don’t know. We are lacking so much at the minute, it’s hard to know where to start.
“We will have a training session in the week and try to install some confidence. It isn’t just about confidence, but we’ve got to start somewhere.
“Holbeach is a big game where we will need to be up for it a lot more than Saturday or we are just going to get the same scenario.”
