Former England bowler and World Cup finalist Phillip De Freitas tells tales of Ian Botham, Allan Lamb, David Gower and Phil Tufnell at March Town Cricket Club's 34th annual dinner




Former England opening bowler Phillip De Freitas, known as Daffy in the cricketing world, was the star attraction at March Town Cricket Club on Friday night.

De Freitas was the guest speaker at the club's 34th annual dinner in the pavilion and he recalled his long playing first class career of over two decades together with stories about the colourful characters he played with, the like of Ian Botham, Allan Lamb, David Gower and Phil Tufnell.

De Freitas played 44 Test matches for England, 103 One Day Internationals and also played in two World Cup Finals. The dinner, organised by club members Stephen Wallis, Norman Alterton and John West, was attended by 60 members and guests.
