Wisbech Town CC lose to Foxton in reduced-overs Whitings League game

Wisbech Town lost to Foxton in a reduced-overs Whitings League game on Saturday by seven wickets after morning rain.

Wisbech had posted 100 runs by the 23rd over for three wickets down, but could not build from there to set a very challenging target.

Dominic Stannard joint-top scored with 40 off 61 balls, with three fours and a six.

James Williams also compiled 40, from 45 balls with five boundaries.

Stannard and skipper Gary Freear, 19, added 51 for the third wicket.

Wisbech reduced the hosts to 90-3 but all of Foxton’s order reached double figures and a quick stand between Craig Park not out 26 and David Fagan not out 48 saw them home with plenty of overs to spare.

Scores: Foxton won the toss and elected to field.

Wisbech Town CC 1st XI 164-7 (39overs: Dom Stannard 40, Gary Freear 19, James Williams 40, Rhys Howell 13, William Gowler no13) 6pts lost to Foxton 1st XI 167-3 (30.1: William Gowler 1-29, Anthony Palmer 1-48, Joe Dunning 1-15) 25pts by 7 wickets.

Foxton 2nd XI 282-6 (50ov: Ian Cooper 3-38) 30pts beat Wisbech 2nd XI 100 all out (33.3ov: Harry Johnson 20) 6pts.

Foxton 2nd XI won the toss and elected to bat.

Meanwhile, Wisbech 3rd XI lost at Cambourne 2nds by 36 runs.

Ten-man Wisbech 4th XI lost to St Ives Town & Warboys 3rd XI by 8 wickets after totalling 84.
