Crucial weekend for March Town and Wisbech Town
It’s a crucial weekend for March Town and Wisbech Town as The Hares look to secure their place in the United Counties League Premier South play-offs and The Fenmen aim to avoid relegation from the Premier North.
March need a maximum of four points from their two Easter games to stay in the top five, although three will probably do because of their superior goal difference.
Ash Taylor’s men end the season with games against two sides who are in the bottom four but cannot be relegated, so have little to play for.
On Saturday March travel to play Bugbrooke St Michaels and on Bank Holiday Monday they host Yaxley. Wins in both these games could also see The Hares gain home advantage in a play-off semi-final.
Wisbech are four points clear of the drop zone going into their final games, meaning one win will secure their safety for another season.
Luke Hipwell’s 15th-place side travel to play tenth-place Melton Town tomorrow (Saturday) and then round the season off with what could be a crunch game at home to a Deeping side in 16th place and managed by former Fenmen boss Brett Whaley on Bank Holiday Monday.
In the Thurlow Nunn First Division North, tenth-place Parson Drove wrap up their season by entertaining Gorleston Reserves on Saturday before a derby clash at Whittlesey Athletic on Bank Holiday Monday.
Whittlesey, who are in 13th-place, end their season with a trip to play-off chasing FC Peterborough on Saturday before the derby clash with Drove.
