Cup runs over for Marshland Saints, Tydd and Upwell Town
All three Fenland sides looking for end-of season cup glory have tasted knockout defeat.
Battling Tydd suffered a narrow 3-2 defeat at Peterborough North End Sports in the quarter-final of the Peterborough Senior Cup on Saturday.
On the same day, Marshland Saints lost 4-2 to Heacham Reserves in the semi-final of the North West Norfolk League George Graver Cup.
In the other semi-final, Upwell Town were defeated 4-3 at home to King's Lynn Social Club on Wednesday evening.
Division One Tydd opened the scoring after just a minute through Brad Easey against Premier Division Sports, who have been promoted to the Eastern Counties League for next season.
But the home side equalised a minute later and were 2-1 up after just four minutes after an own goal. Easey made it 2-2 with a stunning 30-yard free kick in the 62nd minute, but Sports scored again in the 83d minute to earn their place in the semi-finals.
Joe Whyborn netted twice for Upwell in their defeat, and Jamie Leet also scored in a game which saw five Outwell players booked and Ricky Melton sent off.
Jack Cropley and Charlie Edgley scored for Saints at Heacham.
