Fenland athletes in Amsterdam, Abingdon and on the Jurassic Coast

Fenland Running Club members were yet again to be found in far-flung places.

Some decided to replicate the flat lands of the fens whilst others took a step back in time where dinosaurs once roamed.

But first, the club's marathoners and to Dan Tickner who, having doubled up at Peterborough the week previous, decided that Amsterdam and the marathon distance was to be his next challenge when he joined the 22,500-strong field, turning in a very impressive time of three hours, six minutes and 54seconds.

Meanwhile, Rimvydas Muduras took on the challenge of the Abingdon Marathon which whilst just outside Oxford a relatively flat course can be found.

Not to be outdone, Rimvydas clocked yet another impressive time of 3hrs: 20mins.

The Jurassic Coast is said to be one of the most scenic places in the UK, not that the intrepid Fenland visitors would have had too much time to admire the views as three from the club (Stuart Follen, Sean Banks and Leah Banks) took on the tough 54km ultra.

The course is a mix of trails with some very demanding climbs and descents as it tracks across the Dorset coastline.

The respective times were: Sean Banks - 7 hrs:28 mins - position 177/302, Leah Banks - 7 hrs:28 mins - position 178/302, Stuart Follen - 8 hr: 22 mins - position 266/302

Not to be outdone, two other Fenland runners (Larissa Follen and Sharon Bird) took to the shorter but just as difficult 22km course both achieving very respectful times as follows: Larissa Follen - 4 hrs:07 mins, Sharon Bird - 4 hrs:07 mins
