England Youth Grand Prix Midland Area play-off at GER Sports Club run by Cambs Darts Organisation open to all under-18s
Sunday will see the England Darts Youth Grand Prix Midland Area play-off at the March GER Sports Club.
The event will be run by the Cambridgeshire Darts Organisation on behalf of England Darts.
The event is open to all dart players who were under 18 on January 1, 2019.
Both boys and girls will all play in a round robin event (so every player will be guaranteed at least two matches, maybe more dependent on the entries). The girls also get to play in another event of their own.
Players will gain points towards a national and regional table where the top players will qualify for the 2019 England Darts National Finals, that will also be held at the GER in October.
The overall winner on Sunday will also receive £150, the runner-up £75 and the losing semi-finalists will win £25. The girls’ winner will also receive £25.
The entry fee is £10 per player, unless the players are members of England Darts who pay a £5 entry fee. Full details on membership can be found on www.englanddarts.co.uk
Players can register between 11am and 12 noon on Sunday, with matches due to start at 12.30pm.
The heat on Sunday will be the sixth of 11 play-offs across England and players are likely to travel from all over the country to chase the points and prize money available.
This is likely to include some of the current England youth team and many players who contested last year’s finals which were also held at the GER, and it would be great to see some local players compete.
Cambs chairman Peter Melton said: “Entry for spectators is free, so come along and see some incredibly talented players who could one day be a future world champion.”
