Season kicks off with defeats for March, Parson Drove and Wisbech St Mary

It was a bleak opening Saturday to the football season for Fenland's three Thurlow Nunn Eastern Counties League teams, with all of them going down to home defeats.

Playing in the Premier Division for the first time in many years, March Town lost 2-0 at home to Hadleigh United.

In Division One North, Parson Drove were defeated 4-1 at home to Diss Town, with Ryan Lennon on target and Jock Mockford receiving a straight red card.

In the same division, Wisbech St Mary suffered a 3-2 home defeat against Sheringham, with Matthew Harris-Hercules and Charlie Rudland twice putting the Saints into the lead before they lost to a fantastic strike.

In a friendly game, Wisbech Town drew 1-1 at home to Dereham Town, Layton Maddison on target for the Fenmen.
