Defeats for all Fenland teams this Saturday
There were defeats for all of Fenland’s cricket teams in the Cambs & Hunts Premier League this Saturday.
Mid-table Wisbech Town suffered a four-wicket defeat at strugglers Old Leysians in Division One. After being asked to bat, the visitors managed 2014 all out from 49.2 overs, opener Danny Haynes top scoring with 70 from 110 balls, including seven fours.
He was backed up by 58 from 63 balls by Jamie Seabrook, with six fours and a six in his total. Captain James Williams scored 41 from 45 balls and Gary Freear hit 15.
In reply, the home team scored 205-6 from 43.2 overs, George Gowler taking 2-24 from nine, Josh Porter 2-33 from 9.2 and Ryan Clark and Freear taking a wicket each.
March remain in the Division Two relegation area after losing by 30 runs at home to Cambridge NCI.
After electing to bat, the visitors scored 207-8 from 50, Kian Pooley taking 2-26 from five, Samuel Clarke 2-29 from ten, Callum Young 2-38 from 10 and a wicket each for Shae Pooley and Josh Fisher.
The home side put on 52 for the first wicket, with openers James Hilliard and Fisher both scoring 26, but only managed 177-9 from their 50 overs.
Toby Nulty scored 24, wicket keeper Lewis Welcher 18, Clarke 17, Pooley 16, and Adam Conyard and Geoffrey Kirby 10 each.
There was also defeat for Wisbech 2nd, who were beaten by two wickets at home to Abington in CCA Senior League Division One.
After winning the toss and electing to bat, Wisbech scored 214-5 from their 45 overs, George Purell hitting seven fours in his unbeaten 59, Chris Clark scoring 47, Pieter Jacobs 45, wicket keeping opener Matthew Gill 23 and Joe Dunning 13.
The visitors reached 218-8 from 41.3 overs, however, despite Dunning taking 3-35 from nine overs. Jacobs took 2-39 from nine and Brodie Ellis 1-22 from two.
Chatteris lost by six wickets at Cambridge Old Monks in Senior Two. After being asked to bat they were all out for 144 in 42.2 overs, B Hollis top scoring with 46, B Munns scoring an undefeated 16, S Thomas 14, Peter Munns 14, wicket keeper C Munns 12 and A Bamford 11.
In reply, Monks made 146-4 from 33.1 overs, Peter Munns taking a fantastic 3-11 from nine overs and O Tilbrook 1-20 off four.
There was also defeat for Wisbech 3rd, beaten by St Ives & Warboys by 138 runs in CCA Junior League Three North. After electing to field, Wisbech saw the home side make 227-5 from their 40 overs, Amber Crossley-King taking 3-40 from eight overs and Karthic Sivakumar 2-45 from seven.
In reply, the visitors were 89 all out from 29 overs, Amrish Bhatt top scoring with 16, Sivakumar making 15, Crossley-King 13 and Martin Woollard 11.
Chatteris 2nd lost by six wickets at home to City of Ely 3rd in Junior Four North. After being asked to bat, the home side made 181-5 from 40 overs, Harley Edmonds top scoring with 70, captain Oli Bailey hitting an unbeaten 21 and Anton Kaval 20 not out. Ely made 182-4 from 37 overs, with a wicket each for Jago Pearson, Kaval and Bailey.
In Five North, Wisbech 4th conceded at home to Ramsey 3rd.
