Dennis Houghton secured a big win at the latest Tydd Gote Angling Club Summer League match

Dennis Houghton consolidated his position at the top of the Tydd Gote AC Summer League with a hard earned win on the low number pegs at Main Road.

With just a couple of matches remaining, this was a statement of intent from Houghton ahead of the finale.

Fishing pinkie over groundbait, he put some good quality fish in his net from peg 8 for 3lb 10oz and a narrow victory over Gary Burton - extending his overall lead.

Burton was on peg 8, and was only a couple of fish behind with his 3lb 2oz.

It made a change from recent weeks, with peg 35 proving to be a hot spot in the last few matches.

'End peg' Sammy McSpadden finished in third spot with 2lb 10oz, but rued the loss of a big tench on his pinkie rig that would have given him the win.
