A trademark high intensity start worked wonders, with Tom Culshaw scoring after excellent dribbling work from Dan Martell.

Will Denny added two lifted efforts. It was then Martell’s turn, after good build up play from Culshaw. It was 5-0 after 20 minutes, Denny completing his hat-trick.

Wisbech decreased their levels and allowed Cambs Uni to score twice but Wisbech recovered, with Sam Blunt scoring a trademark drag flick to make it 6-2.

The second half was a more even affair but Blunt and Denny were on target.

Men of the Match: Will Denny & Dan Crossley.

An early start and waiting nearly an hour for the pitch to be unlocked was not the best preparation.

A well picked stick save off the line by Craig Coleman and saves from man of the match Bill ‘Wom’ Garner, kept the score at 0-0 into the break.

Wisbech won a short corner for a foot on the line and a well struck ball from Paul Lawrence saw Richard Claxton, with his signature shot, deflect the ball into the net.

This game followed other recent fixtures as Wisbech took a little too long to find their rhythm and conceded a rather soft goal midway through the first half.

Some great saves came from Sam Askew. With a squad of just 11 for this match, all players worked hard. Wisbech were undone late on with a breakaway goal.

PoM: Becky Coleman.

Next week: home to Lindum Ladies 2nds, 11am.

Louth Ladies 2nds 0

Wisbech Ladies 3rds 5

A quick attacking start led to Wisbech finding themselves 1-0 up after just a few minutes through Holly Stevenson.

Her mum Katie stole the limelight soon after when her interception led to an expert finish.

Further goals: Shelley Coleman and PoM Holly Stevenson completed her hat-trick.

Next weekend: away to Woodhall Spa, 2pm.
