Manea's Dave Polley was enraged at the King's Lynn stock cars circuit after he was denied victory on the final lap

Drama unfolded at King's Lynn after a local driver had victory snatched from his grasp on the final lap.

Manea's Dave Polley looked to be a matter of seconds away from a stunning F2 Stock Car Final win on Saturday.

Having worked his way through the grid after starting at the back, Polley was neck-and-neck with arch-rival Andrew Palmer entering the final three laps.

Some excellent driving, coupled with what looked to be the faster of the two cars, sent Polley into first spot on the final bend.

However, while everyone began to scribble down his name as the victor, Palmer managed to get some grip on the inside and sent his competitor into a half-spin.

Within seconds, Palmer had taken the chequered flag by a matter of yards in the most dramatic of finishes.

What followed was even more breathtaking.

Unhappy with the defeat, Polley proceeded to virtually grab the microphone from the race's commentator and embarked on an extraordinary rant against the circuit.

He was dished a subsequent call to race control as a result.

He did manage to dust himself down and recorded a runner-up spot in his heat, which secured him a pole position start at the World of Shale event which takes place later this month.

It remains to be seen whether his outburst will land him in any further hot water.

Elsewhere, Reece Cox was in action in the F2 Stock Car races.

Racing at Lynn for the first time as a star-grade driver, he battled through from the back of the grid to finish in third spot of the consolation event.

He was eighth in the final and finished fifth in the Grand National.

Ollie Skeels and Jess Ward both failed to qualify for the final.

Racing will resume at King's Lynn this Saturday at 5pm, when the Pre 90 Unlimited Bangers are in action .

There will also be a Pre 94 Micro Banger event, a 1500cc Banger race and a Junior White and Yellow meeting.

Local drivers in action include James Licquorice, Dan Clarke and James Ellis.
