Eagles soar to win over Pegg Scaffolding in Wisbech Table Tennis League Premier Division




The latest Wisbech Table Tennis Premier Division fixtures saw Eagles earn a tremendous win over Pegg Scaffolding.

Pegg’s solitary point came when Martin Skipper edged Rob Rix, who had claimed a very good win over Jack Mason. Keith Phillips took the man of the match award with a straight sets maximum, while Owen Turner also scored a maximum.

Eagles also faced Inbetweeners, with Derek Kiddle top scoring for the latter. Both Clive Welsman and Mark Woodall put up some worthy resistance.

For Eagles, man of the match Phillips led the way.

Nets and Edges hosted the might of Elsworth, who once again proved to be worthy winners.

Steve Goodale, Freddie Reed andThomas Archer drew a blank, with Elsworth’s Dan Fielding, Shaun Murray and Jaroslaw Chrzanowski sealing a 10-0 win.

Exiles and Trojans’ game was eventually settled by a doubles win for Jim Defty and Don Dixon. Each team included one reserve player from the First Division.

David Lemmon took man of the match honours with a fine maximum.

Pegg Scaffolding vs Wizards featured some very competitive games.

Martin Skipper’s fine lone win over Alan Ashberry, was all Peggs had to show for their toils, while Dale Parnell and Brett Heppenstall’s maximums and doubles wins ensured a 9-1 win for Wizards.

In the First Division, 5 Stars A and 5 Stars B saw the former emerge victorious 7-3 - with man of the match Paul Gay achieving a maximum. The juniors never gave up, with wins from Alfie Yarrow andCallum Burton giving them their first points.

Title favourites Stingers thrashed Ramblers 10-0, with Paul Reed, Igors Scekalevs and Chris Gay scoring maximums.

Judy Hodgson won Ramblers’ only leg.

Batmen and Spartans played out a thrilling 5-5 draw.

Mark Littlechild was particularly impressive for Batmen with a maximum.

Spartans showed great resilience, with fine performances from Andy Bayes (2) and David Hughes (2).

Warlords vs Wanderers saw a 7-3 win for the home side, with man of the match Guntars Briedis in fine form.

Kevin Buck (2) and Peter Munch (1), also helped Warlords into second place. Steve Kent and David Nicholas replied for Wanderers.
