Easey does it for Tydd as they move away from drop zone




Tydd moved three points away from the Peterborough League Premier Division drop zone with an impressive 3-1 home win over sixth place Oakham United on Saturday.

Ed Booth set up Brad Easey to open the scoring after 33 minutes, and it was 2-0 nine minures later when Sam Bedwell-Byatt assisted for an Easey header.

Oakham hit back before the break but, in the 61st minute, Easey was fouled in the box and dispatched the spot kick for his 16th of the season, making him the division's top scorer.

In the same division, Leverington Sports stay in the drop zone after a 1-0 home defeat to Netherton United.

Long Sutton Athletic avenged a recent 6-3 loss against fellow Division One side Stanground Sports to win 1-0 in the League Cup at London Road. In form big man Vin Bird was felled in the box after some neat footwork and Jamie Taylor converted from the spot

In Division Two, Leverington Sports Reserves went down 1-0 at Park Farm Pumas, and there was a walkover defeat for Sutton Bridge United in the Lincolnshire Junior Cup game scheduled to be played at Louth Town.

Leverington Sports A went down 5-1 at Park Farm Pumas A in Division Four, Philip Large on target.

Wisbech St Mary beat Linton Granta 4-1 in the Cambs County League Premier Division. William Hawes opened the scoring for Saints in the first minute and Nick Castellan made it 2-0 from the penalty spot just before the break.

Linton pulled one back two minutes into the second half but Andy Willmott made it 3-1 six minutes later and Aidan McMurray wrapped up the victory deep into added on time.

In the same division, March Town Reserves remain in bottom spot after a 3-0 defeat at Cherry Hinton.

AFC Emneth go four points clear at the top of Senior A after a 3-2 win at Orwell, after being 2-0 down at the break. Toby Allen, Ben Jimson and Lucas Ablett were the scorers.

March Town A are up to fifth in Senior B after a 1-0 win at Great Shelford Reserves. The Hares dominated possession in the first half and carved out some really good chances, rattling the post through Aaron Ruscue and a deflected Liam Monaghan shot saved.

Karl Anderson saw an effort flash and March finally got the breakthrough goal they deserved when James Monaghan headed in Alfie Richardson's corner. March continued to dominate in the second half and defended well in the last 15 minutes when Shelford through everything at them.

Chatteris Town are just a point off the bottom after a 2-1 defeat at leaders Melbourn,

Wimblington remain in the 1B promotion race after a 2-2 home draw with unbeaten leaders Fenstanton, Gary Smith among the goals again. In the same division, Benwick Athletic enjoyed a good 2-1 home win over Needingworth United, James Harness scoring both to make it 13 for the season.

Chatteris Town Reserves beat Crusaders 2019 1-0 in 2B, Brian Smith scoring the only goal. Fen Tigers Engineers were beaten 3-0 at home by leaders Stretham, and Manea United were thrashed 8-1 at Papworth, Jody Day scoring.

Outwell Swifts made it nine wins from nine in 3B, beating Hemingfords United A 8-3. Ross Beart netted a hat-trick, Adan-Jay Lewis bagged a brace and Jack Brand, Lee Punter and sub Ben Longmuir were also on target.

AFC Emneth Reserves were also victorious, beating Wicken Amateurs 3-2, with Ben Garner (2) and Joel Mattless scoring. Benwick Athletic Reserves remain without a league win after a 5-1 thrashing at Houghton & Wyton.

4B side March Academy Adults beat 3B outfit AFC Ely 4-2 on penalties after a 1-1 draw in the Cambridgeshire Lower Junior Cup, sub Philip Kowbas scoring their goal.

Doddington Three Lions are up to second in 4B after a 4-3 win at Littleport Town Reserves, Jamie Edgar, Sam Smethurst, Lee Redhead and Carlos Alessandrino scoring. Upwell Town are up to sixth after a 2-1 win at Guyhirn, Anthony Walbridge and sub Alex Neve scoring.

Chatteris Town A were thrashed 7-1 at home by Soham United Youths Mens, Spencer Stabler scoring.

Marshland Saints Reserves lost 4-0 at Ingoldisthorpe Reserves in Division Two of the North West Norfolk League.
