Emneth teenager Ellie skates to the British inline speed title
Teenager Ellie Sooley-Drew from Emneth is a British inline speed skating champion.
The 13-year-old, who skates for RS Pro Skate, has enjoyed an outstanding season of competition.
She said: “I found out I was British Champion whilst I was at the Olympic Park in London and it was a feeling of shock.”
In March she became indoor British champion, winning 300, 500 and 800 metre races as well as beating the British record for the 2000 metre relay, held in Wisbech.
At the outdoor championships, held at Tatem Park London in June, she claimed three silver medals, a bronze and a gold in the relay.
The British Marathon Championships were held at the London Velodrome circuit, where the St Clements High School, Terrington St Clement, pupil just lost out on a gold medal.
At the end of the season with the totals for all races it made her overall British Champion, as well as competing in European races and finishing in the top 20.
