Fenland-based Skaters joins forces with King’s Lynn and Soham clubs to raise funds towards two-day summer camp
Three roller hockey clubs have joined forces to help raise money towards a two-day summer camp taking place next month.
Fenland-based club Skaters, King's Lynn Roller Hockey Club and Soham Roller Hockey Club is hosting the camp for under-15 and 17 players.
Two coaches from France will be coming over to host the event at Alive Lynnsport, in King's Lynn, on August 17 and 18.
Organiser Phoebe Lee explained: "Because roller hockey isn't a professional sport in this country, it is all self-funded and I feel as a sport we are constantly pulling at parents' pockets.
"In countries such as Portugal and Spain, it is the second biggest sport behind football and because it is a professional sport funding is readily available.
"A lot of these under-15 and 17 players missed out on coaching during Covid and they don't perhaps have the ability they should do, which is another reason why we are hosting the camps.
"Several players from King's Lynn already play for England but it costs thousands of pounds for them to do that."
A prize bingo at Lutton Village Hall (PE12 9HW) is taking place on Friday with doors opening at 7pm, where there are some fabulous prizes up for grabs plus a raffle.
Sponsors are also required for a meal and quiz night on Saturday, August 3, starting from 5.30pm.
The cost is £5 per player, max four per team with cash prizes of £120, £60 and £20 on offer for the top three teams. Organisers are looking for Sponsors at just £50 per business.
Phoebe Lee added: "David Sones from the Constitutional Club at Sutton Bridge for all his help and support as well as the Curlew Centre Bingo for their help, support and advice."
Thanks also go to the following sponsors: Belltec Designs, Signworx, King's Lynn, Foxbros Builders, Pro-safety Training and Spiritual Pathway Guidance.
