Wisbech drivers bid for World Final spot in 1300 stock cars

A large number of Fenland drivers will be in action at King’s Lynn on Saturday when the 1300 stock cars, 1500cc bangers, micro bangers and junior bangers are in action.

It is a big night for the 1300 stock cars with the meeting being the cut off to determine the Trackstar seeds into the World Final.

With the World Final taking place at King’s Lynn this year there has been intense competition between local drivers who all want to be on the big grid next month.

The top 15 Trackstar drivers will be seeded onto the grid where they will be joined by the top drivers from Spedeworth, Scottish promotion HRP and Northern Irish Promotion DMC.

Currently, two Wisbech drivers are in the all important top 15 and they are local father-and-son duo John and Dean Moat.

Dean is currently in ninth and John is sitting in 11th.

John currently holds a 17-point lead over the 16th-placed driver which is a decent buffer entering the final round and would need to have a nightmare night to fail to still be in the top 15 after the weekend.

But it isn't just the Moats who are bidding for a place in the main race.

World of Shale Champion Tom Alsop and Sonny Wright are both only five points off making the top 15 and they represent the best hope of adding to the Wisbech tally of names who could contest the World whilst Lee Green will also be giving it his best shot.

Karl Morris will be making his 2023 debut whilst John Klyn is also back following a good meeting last time out.

Brad Bartram and Lennie Murkin will have a busy night as both are on double action and will be in both the 1500cc bangers and micro bangers.

They will be joined in the 1500cc bangers by Joel Allen and Aston Gibbons whilst James and Jack Licquorice along with Jack Maryon will also be competing in the micro bangers.

The junior bangers complete the action where Lincoln Douglas will be looking to continue his recent good form.

Also in action in the juniors will be Rhys Parrin, Riley Crowson, Archie Horwood and making his debut will be Keyan Murkin-Everett.
