Fenland drivers head to Adrian Flux Arena as 2024 stock car season bursts into life
The 2024 stock car season bursts into life at the Adrian Flux Arena on Saturday (5pm) when the UK’s top three formulas are in action.
The majority of local interest will be in the 1300 stock cars where Fenland-based drivers make up 20 per cent of the entry.
Following a fantastic end to the season, Dean Moat zoomed up to finish in third place in the National Points and Saturday will see him racing for the first time with the flashing lights of Superstar – a fantastic achievement.
Moat will not be the only member of the family racing in the 1300s on Saturday with father John kickstarting a special season which sees a special celebration meeting taking place for him in June commemorating his 40+ year career and brother Shane who debuted a very smart car in practice last Sunday.
Lee Green, Sonny Wright and Barty Ketteringham will all also be debuting new cars this Saturday which they will all be hoping go as well as they look and Karl Morris will also be back in action.
As is tradition, the first meeting of the season at Lynn for the F2 stock cars is the venue’s World Championship Qualifying round and this sees Fife-based World Champion Gordon Moodie head a star-studded lineup which includes several drivers from north of the border as well as mainland Europe.
Saturday will also see the staging of the Aaron Patch memorial in the F2 stock cars.
Many drivers will be keen to win this race held in memory of a hugely popular character around the tracks who sadly passed away during the close season and our lone representative in the F2s Sam Russell will be keen to impress.
