Fenland father-and-son duo on the podium in front of thousands at King’s Lynn

Thousands were left unable to get tickets for last Saturday’s Halloween Carnival night at King’s Lynn.

Those lucky to get to see the action were not left disappointed with many Fenland drivers being heavily involved in the action in front of the capacity crowd.

As well as a gigantic fireworks display there were also plenty of fireworks on track.

The biggest race of the night for the unlimited bangers was the Supernatural Championship which is reserved for hearses and limos and other weird and wonderful vehicles.

Fenland's Nicky “Spud” Young was racing a unique cannibalised six-wheel Jaguar Camper.

Young was looking for a third consecutive victory in this race and was going well despite the camper disintegrating around him and he was leading with two laps to go when he was stopped with an attack from the hearse of Canterbury’s John Reeves which handed victory to the Daimler Limo of Braintree’s Will Parker.

In the main meeting, Brad Bartram, Tom Waller, Rhys Parrin, James Licquorice and James Cable all picked up entertainer awards.

In addition, Lee Barnes picked up a career first win in the unlimited bangers whilst Joe Geeves came home in second place in the King of the Fens final to Sheffield’s Jacob Rushton.

Other good performances in the formula came from James Ellis and Mark Freeman.

The main race for the 1300 stock cars was the World of Shale Championship.

John Moat led the first few before National Points Champion Canterbury’s Jacob Bromley hit the front.

John couldn’t match Bromley’s pace but stayed in a safe second place with Dean Moat eventually getting the better of Scottish World Champion Darren Rae to place third.

Dean then went on to win the Dash for Cash at the end of the night.

There was also success for local drivers in the Reliant Robins with Roy Gedge winning all three races whilst Olly Betts put in a tremendous display for the crowd and almost spent more time on his roof than he did on his three wheels.
