Fenland athletes take on tough Frostbite League encounter in King’s Lynn

Newcomers of Fenland Running Club made a big and very impressive entry into the Frostbite League at Bawsey Park on Sunday.

The course was set to challenge all aspects of running, with hills, one of which being named "Heartbreak Hill" and coming after approximately three miles, which put the heart, lungs and legs to the test.

With the club providing the majority of the support in the form of marshalling, timekeeping, set-up and tear down from its limited numbers, and ably supported by the series organisers and Park rangers, it was always going to be a challenge to field a team to run, but the club needn't have worried.

As has become the norm for the club those not involved in the events organising stepped up and 20 of the club stepped out onto

the frozen, hilly and in some places muddy course to return a very impressive set of finishing positions which translated to an overall team position of eighth on the day.

This result places the club 8/16 in the league table.

From a field of 328, the club runners finishing positions were as follows: 10th Ben Jimson, 21st Martin Jennings, 27th Sean Banks, 28th Malcolm Tuff, 55th Aaron Porter, 71st Simon Hamilton-Bing, 74th Richard Agger, 75th Rimvydas Muduras, 87th Pete Lunt, 106th Stuart Follen, 110th Tom Richards, 128th Carol Bowett, 167th Hayley Missin, 186th Nigel Marlow, 216th Ade Mills, 238th Maire Kay, 240th Catherine Swann, 261st Ian King, 262nd Larissa Follen, 328th Gilly Anderson (tail runner).
