Lewis Saunders first Fenland Running Club member to finish in March AC Frostbite League race
The new year brought Fenland Running Club members out in force for the Frostbite League race hosted by March AC.
Some 19 runners braved five miles of mud-filled paths and bridleways as part of the winter campaign.
First to finish was Lewis Saunders in 34-46. His 59th place was a little below his best but testimony to the strength of the huge field of 441 runners.
Phil Thompson (above) and Richard Agger finished shoulder-to-shoulder in a home straight sprint (97th and 98th), with club coach John Chapman not far behind in 39-26.
Leading the ladies was Jay Gilbert (189th) and she was well supported by Becky Taylor (219th) and Jane Clarke (255th).
The club was very pleased to see the continued improvement in Tom Richards’ (below) races, while Paul Griffin’s preparation for a spring marathon meant he pulled out halfway to avoid injury.
