Fenland athletes don their vests at Deeping, Great Massingham and in Suffolk
Fenland Running Club members donned their club vests at the Deepings Run 10k, Great Massingham and also at an event in Suffolk.
Simon Hamilton took on the Bury to Clare Challenge, 18.5 miles of gently undulating, mostly trail, Suffolk countryside.
Starting at Nowton Country Park, the course covered highways, byways, tracks, green lanes and narrow paths through nettles and cow parsley, ending with a very welcome downhill section toward the old Clare disused railway station and finishing between the old platforms to cheers from the runners and spectators.
Hamilton said the run had great atmosphere, a glorious route and was well organised. He came 22nd out of 178 in a time of 2:41:27
Malcolm Tuff ran the inaugural Fighter 5k held by West Norfolk Athletics Club at the former RAF Great Massingham airfield.
Described as fast and flat, a potential PB course, WNAC were also raising funds for the East Anglia Air Ambulance.
Tuff ran a superb time of 18:06, coming 26th out of 285 overall and 1st out of 17 in his age category, giving him a very impressive 88.2% age grading
In The Deepings, 10 members took part in the Deepings Run, 10k. Put on by The Rotary Club of The Deepings to raise funds for local charities, the race is run on a fast, flat course.
The weather conditions were practically perfect.
Results out of 338 were as follows: 12th, Andrew Plume, 36:49, 23rd, Dan Tickner, 39:38, 28th, Aaron Porter, 39:52, 32nd, Pete Lunt, 40:11 and a course best, 69th, Tom Richards, 44:13, 78th, Ann Trett, 45:38, 1/17 in age cat, 166th, Andrew Mallett, 52:04, 185th, Katie Woodcock, 53:47, 189th, Jac Richards, 54:05, 300th, Zoe Thornton, 1:05:55 and a 10k PB.
