Lewis Hamilton might have been winning the first Grand Prix of the F1 Season in Australia but he missed out on the Fenland Running Club action at the home of British racing where eight members were among the 6,656 finishers who completed the Silverstone Half Marathon.

Despite the cold, dull conditions a carnival atmosphere ensured another great day at the circuit.

Stupendous efforts were made by the early finishers with Andrew Plume, Paul Griffin and Rod Sinnott all running personal best times despite the wind.

Even more impressive were Tracy Farr, Tracey Howard, Stacey Martin, Denise Griffin and Sharon Bird, ladies who only recently started running.

Full results: Andrew Plume 87th 1.23.33 (PB); Paul Griffin 222nd 1.28.31 (PB); Rod Sinnott 327th 1.30.36 (PB); Tracy Farr 4,748th 2.14.32; Tracey Howard 4,824th 2.15.15; Denise Griffin 4,891 2.16.02; Sharon Bird 5,142nd 2.19.24; Stacey Martin 6,294th 2.47.35.
