Wisbech Town manager Seb Hayes wants troops to replicate FA Trophy display at home in BetVictor NPL South East Division to Glossop North End
Wisbech Town manager Seb Hayes is asking his troops to replicate the weekend’s FA Trophy display at home in the BetVictor Northern Premier League South East Division to Glossop North End on Saturday.
Lee Williamson’s finish just before half-time was enough to secure a 1-0 win as Kidsgrove Athletic beat the Fenmen in the BuildBase FA Trophy preliminary round, with the visitors unlucky not to grab a replay.
Hayes said after Saturday’s cup tie: “We’ve created a host of chances. We were always in the game up until the 90th minute when Tiago’s (Nassanculo) in on goal.
“On another day, we get a good roll of the dice and we score and we go back to our place. I can only praise the players today. When they deserve plaudits, they get it.
“We deserved a draw, on reflection. We’ve got to get performances like that at home.
“We’ve got to turn up – we know that.
“We’ve got to give our fans something to applaud. I don’t think we’ll see the best of us until the second half of the season.”
Centre-back Jordan Armsden, the 17-year-old out on loan to Wisbech from Mansfield Town, made an impressive debut, and Hayes added: “What a player he’s going to be. If we can keep him for ten games I’ll be happy.”
The two sides lie next to each other in the bottom six of the table.
