Wisbech FC boss Whaley hopes captain Sam Spencer and winger Conor Green will regain fitness for vital BetVictor NPL South East home clash with Cleethorpes Town
Wisbech Town manager Brett Whaley revealed influential duo, captain and centre-half Sam Spencer and winger Conor Green, may regain fitness in time for Saturday's home game with Cleethorpes Town.
Whaley said of his skipper (below), who is recovering from a head wound: "Sam is very close; Conor Green maybe, probably in two weeks' time.
"It'll be two big bonuses for us."
Whaley thought the travelling fans were superb at Lincoln Utd and he says the team needs them again against 'Clee': "They're invaluable. We're grateful for it and we need them again.
"We've got 11 games left and we need them in every one."
Whaley has also signed two players to hopefully help the Fenmen score more goals in their fight against relegation.
Ryan Harnwell played 26 games (19 starts, seven as sub, below) for Wisbech in last season’s Northern Premier League campaign, scoring three goals.
Overall Whaley does not envisage much more transfer activity, and said of his squad: “I genuinely believe in this group of players.
"They've got so much talent and not a lot of confidence.
"I think it's fair to give them the opportunity to gel. There might be one or two but we're not putting a lot of approaches out."
