Wisbech Town ease their United Counties League Premier Division relegation fears thanks to late winner at Skegness Town
Sam Bennett struck twice as Wisbech Town eased their relegation fears with a huge 2-1 win at Skegness Town tonight.
Bennett scored the winner deep in injury time to move the Fenmen nine points clear of the United Counties League Premier Division North drop zone.
The striker fired the Fenmen ahead after 10 minutes, only for ex-Wisbech player Arun Jones to draw the home side level 16 minutes later.
That's how it stayed until the fifth minute of stoppage time when Bennett popped up with his third goal in two games to seal a crucial three points in the club's battle to beat the drop.
Luke Hipwell's side are without a game on Saturday and return to league action on February 15 when they make the short trip to play Boston Town.
Parson Drove shared the points with FC Peterborough in the Thurlow Nunn First Division North following a 1-1 draw at Main Road.
Gerson Dos Reis gave Drove a slender lead at the break before FC Peterborough redressed the balance from the penalty spot in the second half.
Tenth-placed Drove host Haverhill Borough on Saturday.
