Wisbech Town facing Tividale test in First Round Proper of FA Vase
Wisbech Town boss Alex Street wants a prolonged run in the FA Vase as the club look to put their poor league form behind them.
The Fenmen host Midland League Premier Division strugglers Tividale in the First Round Proper at Fountain Fresh Park on Saturday.
Street, who reached the semi-finals of the competition as a player for King's Lynn back in 2011, said: "We're looking forward to the FA Vase.
"It's about putting in a good shift at home and trying to get a result. After that, it'll be onto Heanor and trying to pick some points up in the league."
The Fenmen have already thrashed Eastern Counties League First Division North side Whitton United 7-2 in Second Round Qualifying after defeating Godmanchester Rovers 3-0 away in the First Qualifying Round.
Wisbech hope to have both Kern Miller and Michael Frew, who has arrived on dual-registration from Stamford, involved at the weekend after the duo featured in the 2-1 defeat at Melton Town on Saturday.
"I've known Kern for a long time, I played with him at Lynn," said Street.
"He is what he is, no-nonsense. He heads, tackles, kicks it and organises and that's what our defence needs.
"He will be good for us and has come in permanently."
On the arrival of Frew, who has a wealth of non-league experience with a number of clubs, Street said: "Michael has come in for a couple of matches to get game time.
"His endeavour against Melton was class. He created good opportunities for us higher up the pitch, got stuck in and opened them up a little bit.
"He has come in for a couple of games and I think his experience will help someone like Toby (Allen).
"We will have to see what happens. I think he's still in Stamford's plans at the minute but if we got the opportunity to bring him in I'd like to get him."
First Round winners in the FA Vase will pick up £850 while the losing side will pocket £250.
