Wisbech face crunch Easter games against Melton and Deeping to secure Premier Division North survival
Wisbech Town boss Luke Hipwell wants his side to be better with the ball as they look to secure their United Counties League Premier Division North survival over Easter.
The Fenmen's 2-2 home draw on Saturday against promotion-chasing Heanor Town leaves them still with the threat of relegation.
With only Sleaford Town of the four teams immediately below them not winning, Luke Hipwell’s men are now four points from the relegation area, although their goal difference is worse than all but Deeping Rangers.
Hipwell's side travel to play tenth-place Melton Town next Saturday and then round the season off with what could be a crunch game at home to a Deeping side managed by former Fenmen manager Brett Whaley on Bank Holiday Monday.
"This isn't done and it will go down to the wire, admitted the Wisbech boss after Saturday.
""Melton have had a bit of indifferent form recently but will want to end their home season well.
"I want us to be better with the ball, especially at Melton on their 3G. We'll keep working hard and plugging away."
Sam Bennett gave 15th-place Wisbech the lead against fifth-place Heanor after six minutes on Saturday, but the on-form Lions hit back through Mason Booth-Davis nine minutes before the break.
Top scorer Bennett restored the lead eight minutes into the second half from the penalty spot with his ninth of the campaign from 19 games, but a goal for the visitors from Ethan Wiesztort after 74 minutes made the final score all-square.
Hipwell said: "Coming into the game, realistically they were the form team in the league after winning their last six on the bounce so you'd have taken a point.
"But from where we were at, especially in the last 10 minutes and having them down to 10 men because of a sin bin, I think it was perhaps a missed opportunity.
"We started the game on the front foot, scored from a decent set-piece, but then I thought we were really passive.
"Without the ball, we stuck to the game plan and were solid and compact, but when we won the ball we wasn't good enough in possession.
“We started the second half better and got the goal through Amir, who's been brilliant these last two months, and a well-taken penalty from Sam (Bennett)
"After making it 2-1, it started to go like a basketball game and it became stretched. I want us to have more control of the game, in and out of possession.
"They've scored from a free header from a 40-yard ball on the penalty spot, so we should have done better."
