Wisbech Town entertain Heanor Town hoping to seal United Counties League Premier Division North survival for next season

Wisbech Town can confirm their United Counties League Premier Division North status with three points this weekend.

The Fenmen return to league action at Fountain Fresh Park when they entertain play-off chasers Heanor Town.

If the Fenmen can pick up three points against their fifth-placed visitors and Kimberley Miners Welfare drop points on the road, the club will be mathematically safe from the drop.

Luke Hipwell's side were without a game at the weekend, but other results went in their favour in their quest to stay up.

Nineteenth-place Kimberley Miners Welfare suffered a 2-0 reverse at Boston Town while basement club Shirebrook Town were without a game.

With all teams now having three games to play, the Fenmen are six points clear of the drop zone.

Near-neighbours Deeping Rangers - the visitors to Wisbech on the final day of the campaign - host Shirebrook this weekend and Kimberley Miners Welfare travel to Skegness Town.

Gresley Rovers - 5-1 home winners against Skegness on Saturday - make the trip to Sleaford.

It would be quite a turnaround for the club, which found itself without a league win in their opening eight league fixtures of the campaign.

Big home wins against Gresley Rovers and Sleaford began the recovery following the appointment of former player and coach Hipwell late in August.

The Fenmen, who currently sit 15th in the table, have beaten high-flying Eastwood CFC and Bourne Town at home this season and will be looking to add Heanor Town, who are locked in a three-way battle for the final play-off berth, to that list.
