Wisbech up and running in the league following Sleaford draw while Parson Drove share the spoils with FC Peterborough in derby clash
Wisbech Town picked up their first point of the season last night while Parson Drove also claimed a share of the spoils from their midweek derby clash.
The Fenmen drew 1-1 with Sleaford in the United Counties League Premier Division North while Drove were involved in a goalless draw at FC Peterborough in the Thurlow Nunn League First Division North.
Manager Luke Hipwell took charge of his first league meeting in the dugout and it came as a huge relief to everyone as the club ended a run of five successive league defeats.
And the point was good enough to lift the Fenmen off the bottom of the table as they leapfrogged Deeping Rangers in the league standings.
Toby Allen fired Wisbech into a 24th-minute lead from the penalty spot before the home side equalised three minutes before the break - and that's how it remained during an entertaining second half.
Wisbech next entertain Hucknall Town on Saturday.
Drove's goalless encounter at FC Peterborough was good enough to lift them a place up to 13th in the league table.
After the game, Drove took to social media to say: "Always a battle v FC Peterborough but the game finished 0-0. In the grand scheme of things a good point on the board a clean sheet and a good team performance."
On Saturday, Drove are in home action against Haverhill Rovers.
