Wisbech Town picks up a huge win at Ashby Ivanhoe in their battle for UCL Premier Division South survival, March Town held by Bugbrooke St Michaels and Parson Drove beaten at Dussindale and Hellesdon Rovers
It was a mixed afternoon for Fenland sides as Wisbech Town picked up a huge win in their battle to stay up while March Town were held at home and Parson Drove lost on the road.
The Fenmen were 3-2 winners at Ashby Ivanhoe UCL Premier Division North while the Hares drew 1-1 with Bugbrooke St Michaels in the South and Drove were beaten 3-0 at Dussindale and Hellesdon Rovers in the Thurlow Nunn First Division North.
Striker Rob Conyard scored twice for Wisbech, who found the back of the net twice in the last ten minutes, as Luke Hipwell's side bounced back from their disappointing home loss to Shirebook Town last weekend.
Conyard opened the scoring after four minutes before Sam Grouse redressed the balance by equalising four minutes later.
The home side took the lead through a thunderous free-kick from Chris Acott midway through the second half but Conyard netted his second to level matters in the 83rd minute.
Just as it looked as though Wisbech would head home with a good point, Will Langford popped up with a dramatic winner to claim all three for the Fenmen in the fourth minute of stoppage time.
The win moved Wisbech up a place in the table to 16th and next weekend they are back on home soil when they host AFC Mansfield at Fountain Fresh Park.
Wisbech Town: Lakin, Hrris, Nicholson (Williams), Barker, Mattless, Braham, Foster, Falcao, Conyard, Lennon, Ward. Subs: Hoyle, Langford, Cavozzi, Papworth-Boston.
It was another frustrating afternoon for March Town, who have now gone three games without a win in the South after dropping two points at Robin Goodfellows Lane.
Matty Foy gave the Hares a 1-0 lead at the break but the visitors battled their way back into the game to equalise in the second half.
It is now 11 games since Ash Taylor's side last kept a clean sheet in the league - their last one coming early in September following a 1-0 victory over Eynesbury Rovers.
March goalkeeper Jonah Gill picked up the man-of-the-match award from the sponsors.
The draw saw March drop down a place to fifth in the table and they still hold a spot in the final play-off spot, although Northampton O.N.Chenecks are breathing down their necks in sixth.
Next weekend the Hares take a break from league action as they host high-flying Essex Senior League side Takeley in the last 64 of the FA Vase.
March Town: Gill, Green, Brumby, Burrows (Williams), Emmington, Saunders (Withers), Cotton (Escorcio), Foy, Gillies (Biggs), Allen (Henderson), Tait.
It was also a bad day for Parson Drove who, after a goalless first half, conceded three times to lose 3-0 at The Nest against Dussindale and Hellesdon Rovers.
The defeat saw Drove drop a place to ninth in the league standings.
Next weekend, Drove entertain fourth-placed Diss Town at Main Road.
