Fenland Running Club have fun at Holkham 10K and Outlaw Triathlon
It was a great start for the Fenland Running Club at the weekend.
The ‘sell-out’ Holkham 10K – 11am on Saturday – was part of a weekend of fantastic running opportunities for all.
The Holkham 10K was followed by the Holkham 2.5K Dash Saturday afternoon and the Outlaw Triathlon on the Sunday.
If you want a stunningly scenic trail 10K, this super well-organised race by OSB Events can’t be beaten, held within the grounds of the magnificent 18th-century Holkham Hall Estate.
First Fenland Runner home was Rimvdas Muduras, coming 1st his age category of 25-29; shortly followed by Sean Connolly who also came 1st in his age category, 50-54.
Rachael Nicols stormed home with her first run at Holkham and 1st Fenland Lady in having joined the beginners’ course at the club last summer. It was Adrian Searle’s debut on the course also after completing the beginners’ course last summer.
The ‘Fenland Kings’ Sally and Ian were also triumphant on their fourth Holkham 10K race.

Sunday was another warm and sunny day with 12 Fenland Running Club members taking part in the Whitemoor 5-Miler (formerly The Spud Run) hosted by March Athletic Club.
The course consisted of a mixed terrain including road, grass, bridleway and river bank with 180 finishers.
Jay Gilbert had a brilliant run finishing strongly as 3rd lady overall with Nigel Seale smashing his PB by 1 minute 14 seconds to finish in 10th position overall and taking the prize for 1st MV55.
With the club’s 12 week ‘Back to Running’ course coming to the end, Chris Prince and Andy West put in a fantastic performance achieving times of 33:52 and 48:33 respectively with Andy getting a PB by 1 minute 42 seconds from two years ago.
For Pete Lunt and Steve Bennington it was the first time for both racing this distance. Jackie Richards won yet another prize for Fenland with 1st FV50 and Jane Greenwood claimed 1st LV60.
