Young Wisbech swimmers win first round of Junior Fenland League

The weekend saw the first event in the Junior Fenland League, which consists of 13 teams.

The event, at Whittlesey pool, saw Wisbech put forward a team of 17 swimmers to cover 44 events (plus relay), with members swimming between one and five races each.

The team captains for the event were Joshua Jones and Grace Rayner.

After the first 10 races Wisbech were in the lead and they maintained this right up until the relay where double points on offer posed the possibility of coming second. However, the swimmers did their best and the final result was that Wisbech won this first round.

There were four cut-off times that were beaten. These were by Harry Wilkshire, Ebony Smith, Lilly Wright and Joshua Jones.

There were also 33 PB times across the 44 swims: Harry Wilkshire (4), Lilly Wright (4), George Warby (4) Jensen Stevens (3), Harry McClure (3), Isabella Burton (2), Ashton Busby (2), Ebony Smith (2), Esa Condon (2), Layla Warby (2), Grace Rayner, Luke Wilson, Joshua Jones, Milana Melinyte and Esmai Smith.

In addition, there were 16 first places: Lilly Wright (4), Isabella Burton (3), Madison Hicks (2), Harry Wilkshire, Ebony Smith, Jensen Stevens, Milana Melinyte, Layla Warby, Esmai Smith and the Squadron relay team. lAnybody interested in joining the club please email the club secretary at membershipsec.wsc@gmail.com.
