March Athletic Club in action across the world




March Athletic Club members were out running this weekend at St Neots, across England and even across the world.

A large number of club members were in attendance for the opening race of the Frostbite Friendly League.

March had a good performance, with the seniors placing in seventh while the Juniors occupy sixth after the first of the six events.

Mark Godfrey was first to cross the line at St Neots as he just pipped fellow club runner William Bradley to the line in a dramatic finish.

Tim Brammer was third through the funnel for the team as he finished in 32:39 for an approximately 5 mile race.

Henrik Stoner was next as he recorded a course PB with a superb run, with Dean Markillie finishing just two seconds later.

Toni Alcaraz was the leading lady for the club in 34:59 to continue her fantastic performances of late. Serge Lambert was next, before Andrew Wool rounded up the seven scoring men.

Serge starred on his senior debut in the league with a time of 35:16. Karen Patterson was next home for the ladies, finishing in just over 40 minutes with a brilliant run in hot conditions and a tough course.

Tina Lambert was third, followed by Sonia Witham as the pairing both ran superbly for the team.

Elsewhere in the UK, Jill Vaughan and partner John took part in the Marriotts Way 10K and came back with awesome results.

Jill was first over the line as she completed the race in a stunning time of 58:19 to win her age category. John was also in fine form as he ran his first 10k race in 59:24.

March members were also present at the Chester Marathon. Kanina O'Neil-Head was first home for the club as she performed amazingly to finish in 03:10:55 despite a recent injury plaguing her training.

Mick Stacey was next in 03:25:56, a brilliant time for the marathon distance. Mike Blackledge was next to cross the line for March AC as all his training paid dividends.

Running buddies Oliver Goodwin and Michelle Prior were next as they worked well as a team to earn the former a marathon PB of 04:25:27.

Another group of March runners were also taking part in the marathon challenge, but this time overseas.

Mike Boxall, Rachel Boxall, Andy Cole and Tricia Cole were in Chicago. The group all had fabulous runs, with Andy leading the way.

He finished the prestigious event in 03:12:25 - his seasonal best time. Mike Boxall was next home in 03:19:08.

The pairing have now completed all six major marathons, becoming two of just 11,000 people worldwide to have achieved the remarkable landmark.

Tricia was next home in a time of 04:27:54 which saw her earn a new PB for the tough marathon distance. Rachel Boxall followed the super athlete in 05:16:13.
